JOB TITLE: IT Support Technician

SUPERVISOR: IT Support Manager

Summary: The position will provide hardware and software support for IT systems in both a Windows and Macintosh computing environment. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, upgrading, deploying and troubleshooting desktops, laptops, handhelds, and printers. The position will also perform server-level tasks as assigned, such as creating and maintaining end-user accounts, creating and maintaining VM’s, and telephony administration. Additionally, provide assistance and training to end-users with a high-level of customer service and timely responsiveness.



Responsibilities:

• Identify, analyze, research, diagnose and resolve technical problems for PCs, Macintosh’s, and printers, utilizing external contractors as needed;

• Track, respond to, resolve and document solutions to customer requests and issues using help desk software;

• Configure, image and deploy workstations and maintain updated workstation images;

• Provide support for servers, network devices and telephony devices as assigned. This may include monitoring servers, event logs, backup processes, and replication cycles to ensure optimal systems performance and proactively identifying trends indicating performance degradation or impending system failure;

• Perform routine data backup, archiving, and recovery tasks to ensure file servers maintain a high-level of disk storage capacity;

• Prepare various reports for management to measure systems usage, performance, and capacity based upon reviewing and analyzing system logs, events, and reports;

• Maintain IT asset inventory and related documentation including ordering computers, printers, toner and other supplies as needed;

• Create and maintain documentation such as technical specifications, work instructions, and user manuals;

• Create and maintain user accounts and security permissions as directed;

• Evaluate, analyze, test, recommend, and implement systems that improve the management and support of workstations, servers, and end-users;

• Maintain status of assigned projects and tasks using project management software;

• Perform routine tasks to maintain computer equipment and peripherals such as printers, fax machines and copiers to identify and resolve errors, replace paper or toner, and fix paper jams periodically throughout the day;

• Perform miscellaneous office duties, which includes but is not limited to organizing file cabinets, assisting with any office projects, general filing, assembling and installing office equipment, and other duties as assigned;

• Ability to work well in a flexible, fast-paced and dynamic work environment;

• Ability to work well under time constraints including handling several complicated tasks in a relatively short period of time



Education/Experience Required:

• Associates degree in an IT-related field;

• Three or more years of computer support experience in a professional office environment;

• Experience supporting and maintaining Windows and Macintosh desktops/laptops;

• Understanding of local and wide area networking using TCP/IP



Additional Experience Desired:

• Servers: Active Directory, Exchange, Blackberry Enterprise Server, Terminal Server

• Applications: VMware, Norton Ghost, Norton AntVirus, Retrospect, DoubleTake

• Operating Systems: Windows XP, Vista, Server 2003/2008, Mac OSX, Linux/UNIX

• IT certification such as Microsoft or CompTIA
